Meet Mike

I am a former New York State Assemblyman who was born and raised in New York’s 3rd Congressional District. This is my home. I’m a proud New Yorker and believe our future is worth fighting for.

As a graduate of Farmingdale High School, I went on to attend the State University of New York at Albany and received my law degree from Albany Law School where I graduated magna cum laude and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Albany Government Law Review.

After passing the bar, I was one of just 50 out of two thousand to be offered a position as an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the New York City Law Department defending police, fire, corrections, and other public sector employees.

Hard work, determination, and serving my community are the foundation of who I am. Nothing was handed to me. I don’t come from a political family. I take pride in being our hometown voice.

Having been recognized on Long Island Business News’ “30 Under 30” list in 2017 and their “40 Under 40” list in 2023, I am committed to finding next-generation solutions that best serve New Yorkers.

As a community volunteer with groups like the Sons of Italy, Sons of AMVETS, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and so many more, I heard firsthand the concerns and frustrations of my fellow Long Islanders. Rampant crime. Out of control cost of living

A general lack of common-sense decision making from our elected leaders. People were fed up that no one was listening to them.

Instead of sitting on the sidelines, at just 28 years old, I put my law career on hold, knocked on over 20,000 doors, and successful defeated an Incumbent Democrat to win a seat in the New York State Assembly. Upon swearing-in, I immediately went to work.

As an Assemblyman, I was the leading voice and champion for law enforcement across New York State. I was one of the first to oppose the disastrous bail reform laws and was the only member on Long Island in the NYS Assembly to vote against ALL anti-police laws during the height of the ‘Defund the Police’ movement. When they called to abolish ICE, I joined them on a ride-along, and when they wanted to give free college tuition to illegals, I stood up and demanded that they instead give assistance to the members of Gold Star families.

During COVID, I stood up against Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio to call out their arbitrary metrics and lockdowns that hurt our kids and small business owners the most. Despite criticism coming from all sides, I joined parents in demanding that kids remain in school, held a massive rally fighting to restore services for children with developmental disabilities, and called for a federal investigation into New York’s deadly nursing home policy.

Committed to finding solutions, I spearheaded and co-chaired the New York State Republican Water Quality Task Force aimed at addressing issues with aging infrastructure and emerging contaminants and fought tirelessly to secure extra funding to ensure the full cleanup of a NYS Superfund Site.

I am proud of our accomplishments. I am proud to be an advocate for my friends, family, and community. Too much is at stake for us to sit back and allow others to dictate our future. It’s time for a fresh start. For the next generation – people with skin in the game – to have a say.

It’s time to restore sanity and common sense – it’s time to do what is right, not what is easy.
